It is truly noteworthy that stakeholders came together around a common goal. We relied heavily on interactive public workshops to discover what people thought best. Over the last two years, three focal points have been identified for an economic development strategy for:
Business
• Be the best place for business in California to maximize our national and global competitive advantages by supporting and growing existing industry clusters and attracting others.
• Become a center for clean energy, green building, and highly efficient transportation technologies.
People
• Make sure all of the region's high school students are ready-for-school-ready-for-work.
• Build on the unique strengths of our institutions and align education and training programs to meet local needs.
Place
• Invest in civic infrastructure that creates an iconic downtown core and supports suburban centers and new cultural attractions and other amenities.
As the CEO of the Sacramento region’s chamber of commerce, I am proud of our accomplishments and that we have mapped a future to make our region’s economy vibrant. Come join us in one of our six regional counties—El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo or Yuba—and thrive where there is a competitive advantage.
